Summer Road Trip? Pack Efficiently

I am going on a trip this Summer. What are the best things to pack and how should I go about it?

When I travel I try to pack the least amount of things possible, but somehow I always end up with things I never used even once. Packing efficiently can save you a broken back, but most importantly money. When I went to Florida this pass Spring break, my luggage was over weight and they charged an extra $50 to my account, so it is well worth preparing for your trip.
