What is iGoogle and How Do I Use It?

Awhile back the college kids discovered a Google application that changed our web browsing forever, and it is called iGoogle. Not only does it save us time, but it's pretty frickin' sweet too.

iGoogle is an application that you usually use for your homepage. It allows you to have widgets on it that do all sorts of stuff from finding the cheapest gas in town to seeing what the latest posts are on Ask A College Kid.

How do I get it?

You must first sign up for an account on Google. If you already have a gmail account your all set you just need to activate it, but if not, you can get one here.

From there you can start going to your personal homepage by by going to this address:http://www.google.com/ig.

You may have to sign in for the first time.

How Do I Add Stuff?

Once you login you will see Add stuff near the top right of the page. You can search for anything you want from here or you can browse through their many categories.

Also, if you are on a website you can click the RSS button which will allow you to add the RSS feed to your iGoogle. If you have no idea what RSS is you can check our previous post on it here.

What stuff should I add?

The College Kids use many widgets, but we will recommend a few.

Weather

Make it Pretty

You can make it look really cool instead of having the boring old Google Logo. You can choose a theme by clicking select theme near the top right. The themes are always changing with the time of day, so there's always something different to look at.

What does ours look like?

Have fun with it, and share your experiences with iGoogle in the comments.
